Learning the Importance of Study Groups in College
When you are in school, it can be difficult to find a career that you are comfortable pursuing. There are many people that struggle understanding how they are going to find a career that they are interested in but that will also provide them with job opportunities after they graduate.
They are at a time of life when they do not have to worry about paying major car, house or family bills that come with being an older adult. They have more time to devote to their studies. You worry that you will not be able to keep up with them intellectually, giving you a huge disadvantage in the field. You also worry that you cannot learn as quickly as you used to.
In your early 20's adapting to new ideas and learning material was much easier than it is now. The thought often crosses your mind, "Can you truly perform well under these conditions and do you still have what it takes to make it with a nursing degree?" The answer is certainly yes. Not only can you do it, but you are very likely to succeed for a number of reasons.
First, it is true that you have much more responsibility than those in their early 20's. The truth is that you do not have as much free time as those youngsters. But you have a major advantage that they do not. You care about what you are doing.
You may also need to get certifications or experience throughout the time that you are in school to ensure that you are qualified for the position that you are interested in. You should not be afraid to talk with professionals in the specific field.
When it all comes down to it, study groups have proven to be completely positive in nature. Along with being able to improve someone's academic performance, it also teaches highly valuable life skills.
What these two factors boil down to is that you want it more. You will spend the time and the effort to get things done in a more timely, and effective manner than the 20 year old, giving you a huge advantage.
Second, it does not matter if you are past your "prime" of learning. You learn something new in your life every day. You may argue that "you cannot teach an old dog new tricks." You are not a dog though. You are a sentient being capable of far more than you let yourself believe. All you really need to get the job accomplished is the drive to do it. If you want to get a nursing degree, then you will get one. You will make it happen.
People in these situations can also learn how to work with others effectively in order to get a result. These are all things which will come up in the workplace and over the course of life.
Your experience gives you the upper hand. You will take advantage of your opportunity to get a nursing degree.
